Use-case: Utility micro-tool

Build a link shortener with AI — deployed and live in minutes.

A link shortener sounds simple. But Bit.ly charges €35/month for custom domains. Rebrandly charges more. Völundr builds you a complete link shortener — custom domain, analytics, admin dashboard, redirect rules — as a Docker container running on your infrastructure. Pay once, run it forever.

What Völundr builds

A complete link management system

Custom short URLs

Create short links on your own domain (e.g. go.yourdomain.com/campaign). No Bit.ly branding. No third-party analytics sending your click data elsewhere.

Click analytics

Track click counts, referrers, device types, and geographic breakdown. All data stored in your own PostgreSQL database — not in a third-party analytics platform.

Admin dashboard

Create, edit, deactivate, and delete links from a clean interface. Bulk create from CSV. Set expiry dates. Password-protect links if needed.

How it works

Three steps to your own link shortener

1

Describe your requirements

Tell the Analyst your domain, whether you need authentication for the admin, what analytics dimensions matter (device, country, referrer), and any special redirect rules like geo-targeting or A/B split.

2

Agents build the redirect engine

The Architect designs a schema optimised for fast redirects at scale. The Developer writes the redirect middleware, API, and admin UI. Tester validates redirect logic and edge cases.

3

Point your domain and go live

Deploy to staging, verify redirects work, then promote to production. Point your custom domain at the server. All existing short links update automatically.

Ownership

Your app is a real Docker container — not locked to our platform. Host it anywhere, export it any time.

Your link analytics and redirect rules are stored in your own database. There is no Bit.ly dependency, no third-party tracking pixel, and no risk of your short URLs breaking when a SaaS tool changes its free tier. The Docker container runs wherever Docker runs.

Common questions

How fast are the redirects?
Redirect performance depends on where you host the Docker container. On a Hetzner CPX11 (€3.79/month) in the same Cloudflare region as your users, typical redirect latency is under 30ms. The Architect can add Redis caching for the redirect lookup if you anticipate high traffic — describe your expected volume during intake.
Can multiple team members use the admin?
Yes — describe multi-user requirements during intake. The Developer agent adds role-based access so admins can create and manage links while viewers can only see analytics. All handled with standard session-based auth.
