1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They enable the website to remember your preferences and session state across page loads. Völundr uses a combination of essential cookies (required for the service to function) and optional cookies (only used with your consent).

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled. No consent is required to set these cookies.

next-auth.session-token

  • Purpose: Session authentication — identifies your logged-in session
  • Type: HTTP-only, Secure
  • Lifetime: Until sign-out or browser session ends

next-auth.csrf-token

  • Purpose: Cross-Site Request Forgery protection — validates form submissions
  • Type: HTTP-only, Secure
  • Lifetime: Until sign-out or browser session ends

next-auth.callback-url (optional, set on redirect)

  • Purpose: Stores the URL to redirect to after authentication
  • Type: HTTP-only
  • Lifetime: Session only

Note: These cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for authentication and security. They do not track you across websites.

3. Analytics

Völundr uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless measurement tool. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device — it reports aggregate page views, referrers, and countries directly to Cloudflare's edge.

Völundr also records its own server-side page-view rows in its own database (page path, timestamp, and your account ID when you are signed in), and, at the moment you create an account, the campaign parameters and referring site that brought you to the platform.

Neither of these is gated behind the cookie consent banner.Neither writes anything to your device, so the consent requirement that applies to cookies does not apply to them. The lawful basis for processing the IP address involved is Völundr's legitimate interest in knowing how the platform is found, disclosed here and in the Privacy Policy.

What the “Analytics” toggle in the cookie consent banner controls today: it records your preference for future cookie-based analytics tooling. It does not switch off the cookieless measurement described above, because there is no device storage for it to switch off.

To object or opt out: use your browser’s Do Not Track setting or a content-blocking extension to stop the third-party script from loading, or contact us at the address at the foot of this page to object to the first-party records under the GDPR.

4. Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies enable personalised advertising and campaign attribution. Marketing cookies are off by default. We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and request your explicit consent before activating any marketing cookies.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Völundr sets no third-party cookies on this site. Payments are handled on Stripe's own checkout pages, which set their own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy once you are redirected there to pay. Any further third-party services we integrate will be disclosed here before activation.

As disclosed in Section 3, we load the Cloudflare Web Analytics script from static.cloudflareinsights.com. It is cookieless and receives the page URL, referrer, and a country derived from your IP address. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how Cloudflare processes this data.

6. How to Manage Your Consent

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time:

  • Via the cookie consent banner that appears on your first visit to any Völundr page
  • By clearing the cookie-consentkey from your browser’s localStorage (Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage → völundr.dev)
  • Via your browser’s built-in cookie settings

Note: Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be disabled without preventing the platform from functioning correctly.

7. Updates to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookie categories or third-party services. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via the platform or by email.
